Batelco, part of Beyon, has confirmed its early adoption of eKey 2.0, reinforcing its commitment to Bahrain’s national digital transformation initiatives. This strategic move aligns with the country’s vision of a digitally advanced economy, showcased by Batelco’s participation in a press conference organized by the Information and eGovernment Authority, in collaboration with Beyon Connect.
As a leading telecommunications provider and vital enabler of Bahrain’s digital ecosystem, Batelco received recognition alongside other governmental and private entities for its role in the successful integration of eKey 2.0 during its initial launch phase.
Batelco will integrate the eKey into its app as an additional digital identification option, enhancing the customer onboarding process. In the future, this integration will extend to e-commerce checkouts, enabling customers to authenticate purchases via biometric verification with the eKey. This advancement will improve identity verification and service accessibility, while strengthening security and simplifying the overall user experience.
Christopher Hild, CEO of Beyon Connect, praised Batelco’s forward-thinking approach, highlighting how their early adoption of eKey 2.0 would significantly improve user onboarding, service provisioning, and identity verification—all crucial elements for Bahrain’s broader digital transformation objectives.
Aseel Mattar, General Manager of Batelco’s Consumer Division, expressed excitement over the integration, emphasizing that Batelco’s commitment to innovation and service enhancement would offer customers a simpler and more secure experience.
Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority, also welcomed Batelco’s adoption of eKey 2.0, stressing its importance in providing secure services and contributing to Bahrain’s national digital transformation efforts.
