Visa (NYSE: V), a global leader in digital payments, has announced that cardholders in Jordan can now add their Visa cards to Google Wallet. Starting today, Visa cardholders from Arab Bank, InvestBank, and Al Rajhi Banking and Investment Corporation (Al Rajhi Bank Jordan) can link their cards to Google Wallet on Android and Wear OS devices. This integration allows for contactless payments at locations that accept them, providing both locals and tourists in Jordan with a more convenient, mobile-based payment option.
The integration supports the increasing demand for digital payment solutions in Jordan, helping drive the shift towards cashless transactions. Google Pay’s tokenization technology, which replaces sensitive card details like the 16-digit primary account number (PAN) with a secure token, enhances the security of each transaction and reduces the risk of fraud.
Mario Makary, Vice President and Country Manager for Visa in Levant, expressed excitement about the partnership with Google, emphasizing Visa’s ongoing commitment to advancing Jordan’s digital payment ecosystem. “With mobile phone penetration in Jordan reaching 82.3% in early 2025, this integration offers another convenient and secure payment option, meeting the growing demand for contactless solutions,” Makary said.
Ben Volk, Vice President and General Manager of Google Pay and Google Wallet, highlighted the ease of use of Google Pay. “Google Pay provides a fast, easy, and secure way for users to make payments with their Android phone or Wear OS device. Users can add their debit and credit cards to Google Wallet with confidence that their financial information is safe,” Volk said.
