Telecommunications Networks in Makkah and Madinah See High Performance During Ramadan

The Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) reported exceptional telecommunications network performance in Makkah and Madinah during the first half of Ramadan. Over 320 million calls were made, including 184 million local calls and 21 million international calls in Makkah, and 107 million local calls and 10 million international calls in Madinah.

The 5G coverage in Makkah reached 98%, while Madinah saw a 99% coverage rate. Mobile data consumption in Makkah averaged 1190MB per capita daily, more than three times the global average, while in Madinah, it reached 1495MB, exceeding four times the global average.

Mobile internet speeds also performed exceptionally well, reaching 210 Mbps in Makkah and 278 Mbps in Madinah. The report highlights the sector’s ability to meet high demand with the latest technology and resources, ensuring seamless connectivity for worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan.
