Bahrain has launched the MyGov application, offering a wide range of public services to enhance digital transformation and improve service accessibility. The app was introduced by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology.
MyGov is one of three key projects by the country’s Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) aimed at strengthening Bahrain’s digital infrastructure. The app provides citizens with convenient access to essential services, including passport issuance and renewal requests, residency applications, and travel permit issuance. Additionally, users can access services from the General Directorate of Traffic, such as renewing driving licenses, paying traffic fines, and renewing vehicle registrations.
The app also allows users to handle ID card and birth certificate services, such as issuing, renewing, or replacing ID cards, and tracking ID card applications. Furthermore, users can view their birth certificates and manage ID cards for children and domestic workers.
Bahrain Post services are also integrated into MyGov, offering features like the renewal of private P.O. box subscriptions and tracking postal shipments with the upgraded eKey 2.0 system, which enables secure biometric authentication for parcel tracking.
In its initial phase, MyGov provides several public security services, including filing reports with police stations, the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, and the NPRA’s Investigation and Follow-Up Department. The app also facilitates reporting online child abuse cases and verifying the validity of Good Conduct Certificates, issued by the Criminal Information Directorate.
The MyGov app is available for download from the eGovernment Apps Store (bahrain.bh/apps). It uses the enhanced eKey 2.0 system, which includes face biometric authentication, a collaboration between iGA and Beyon Connect. Batelco, Bahrain’s telecommunications provider, recently adopted the eKey 2.0 system.
Additionally, Bahrain has integrated Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology into its national ID card, making it a seamless travel document for citizens.
