Pakistan and Uzbekistan Strengthen Digital Partnership for Cybersecurity and Technology Ventures

Pakistan and Uzbekistan are set to enhance their digital partnership, focusing on cybersecurity, digital services, and technology ventures. Discussions between Uzbek Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, and Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, explored collaboration opportunities, including a one-window system for digital services, startup ecosystems, and venture capital investments.

Both countries emphasized the importance of digital skills training, particularly for women and youth, and strengthening educational exchanges. The establishment of a Joint Working Group (JWG) for the IT and telecom sectors was agreed upon, aiming to enhance cooperation in these fields. Pakistan highlighted its cybersecurity capabilities through institutions like NCERT and NTISB.

Additionally, both sides discussed enhancing connectivity through the Wakhan Corridor and China’s Digital Silk Road to improve digital services for Central Asia. Pakistan’s National Incubation Centers were also identified as key platforms for bilateral startup collaborations. The meeting underscored the importance of ministerial visits to finalize agreements on emerging technologies and expand collaboration.
