Maroc Telecom and Inwi have signed a partnership agreement to fast-track Morocco’s 5G and fiber optic network expansion. The two companies will establish joint ventures, FiberCo and TowerCo, to manage the infrastructure development.
FiberCo will focus on expanding fiber networks, with a goal of achieving 1 million connections within two years and 3 million within five years. Meanwhile, TowerCo will oversee the construction of 2,000 new towers in the next three years and 6,000 over the next decade to support Morocco’s growing 5G network.
The first phase of the project, which is valued at AED 4.4 billion over three years, is awaiting regulatory approval. If approved, the initiative will significantly enhance internet access and mobile services across Morocco.
Jassem Alzaabi, Chairman of e&, expressed that this partnership is a major step toward stabilizing the telecom market and enhancing Morocco’s appeal as an investment destination. Hatem Dowidar, e&’s Group CEO, noted that the improved infrastructure will support everything from e-government services to business innovation, boosting Morocco’s competitiveness in the region.
Both Maroc Telecom and Inwi have fully endorsed the deal as part of Morocco’s wider digital transformation strategy, aimed at providing faster and more reliable internet services for all.
