Algerian Hacker Group Targets CNSS in Retaliatory Cyberattack

On the evening of April 8, the CNSS (National Social Security Fund) in Algeria was attacked by an Algerian hacker group named “Jabaroot DZ.” The group claimed responsibility on Telegram and announced that it had leaked a file containing personal data of 1,996,026 employees from nearly 500,000 companies. This data included sensitive information such as identity card numbers, phone numbers, and banking details.

The CNSS’s initial investigation revealed that some of the leaked data was misleading, inaccurate, or garbled. However, the CNSS confirmed that the attack resulted in significant data leaks, and the full extent of the damage is still under assessment.

The cyberattack has sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with many questioning the reliability of the CNSS’s digital security system. The hacker group, Jabaroot DZ, stated that the attack was a form of retaliation against Moroccan hackers’ previous actions, adding a layer of geopolitical tension to the incident.

The situation highlights the vulnerabilities in digital infrastructure and underscores the ongoing challenges surrounding cybersecurity in the region.
