Doha – Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has introduced the ‘Multiple Wallets per Mobile Number’ feature within the Qatar Mobile Payment (QMP) system. This move aligns with the Third Financial Sector Strategy and is part of QCB’s continuous efforts to improve mobile payment services in Qatar.
In an announcement on its X account (formerly Twitter), QCB explained that this new feature allows users to open two wallets under the same mobile number, each with a different payment service provider. Additionally, users can designate one account as their default to receive incoming transfers and have the flexibility to manage or change the default account at any time.
QCB emphasized that this advancement enhances user experience by providing more options, fostering competition and innovation, and supporting financial inclusion in Qatar. The bank also highlighted that this development underscores its ongoing commitment to improving mobile payment services and furthering financial inclusion in the country.
