Algeria Launches Regional Forums to Strengthen Media Dialogue and Ethics

Algeria’s Minister of Communication, Mr. Mohamed Meziane, is set to inaugurate the first in a series of regional forums aimed at fostering dialogue between journalists, media professionals, and key stakeholders in the communication sector. The event, scheduled for Thursday in the coastal city of Oran, marks a significant step in promoting a national discussion on the future of journalism and media ethics in the country.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Communication, this forum is the first of its kind, offering an open platform for debate, idea exchange, and critical engagement with members of Algeria’s national press and communication community. The Ministry emphasized that these regional gatherings are designed to foster inclusive and constructive discussions on the key issues, opportunities, and responsibilities shaping the media profession today.

The Oran forum will be followed by similar meetings in other regions of Algeria, including the East, South, and Center, ensuring widespread participation in what is expected to become a dynamic consultation process.

This initiative comes at a crucial time for Algeria’s media sector, which is undergoing significant transformations driven by the rise of digital platforms, increased demands for professional integrity, and the need to uphold journalistic standards in the face of misinformation and political pressures.

Through these forums, Minister Meziane and his team aim to build trust, identify practical solutions to structural challenges, and establish a renewed vision for communication in Algeria, aligning with democratic principles and public service.
