Under the “Renewable Lesotho: Access to Affordable and Renewable Energy” initiative, a joint project by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Lesotho, Bangladeshi IT company Dream71 Bangladesh Limited has been awarded the responsibility to build a digital platform.
Dream71 Bangladesh emerged as the winner of an international tender published by UNDP in January. After a thorough evaluation of financial and technical proposals, the company was selected to proceed with the project. The agreement between Dream71 and UNDP was officially signed on April 16, 2025.
As part of the project, Dream71 will create a secure, modern, web-based digital platform designed to provide e-tendering, data management, real-time monitoring, and geospatial analysis services. This platform aims to support Lesotho’s renewable energy efforts and provide greater access to affordable energy in remote communities.
Rashad Kabir, Managing Director of Dream71, expressed pride in the company’s involvement, stating, “We are proud to be associated with this project. We believe that sustainable technology can uplift remote populations in developing countries, and this platform will serve as a catalyst for positive change in Lesotho.”
The project is set to run from April 2025 to April 2027. Dream71, a Bangladeshi IT company, exports software to approximately 15 countries and provides software services to various Bangladesh government ministries. The company has also developed software for the governments of East Timor and Bhutan, in addition to its work in Bangladesh.
