Media City Qatar has signed a collaboration agreement with the German Press Agency (dpa) to establish a regional editorial hub, enhancing Qatar’s position as a prominent media platform and expanding news coverage across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. Operations are set to commence in June 2025 and will last for an initial five-year period.
Through this partnership, Media City Qatar continues its commitment to providing high-quality news coverage and strengthening the presence of global media organizations. The new hub will expand dpa’s services, deepen regional reporting, and contribute to its global news coverage in Arabic, German, English, and Spanish. In addition to editorial operations, dpa will provide professional training for media organizations and individuals, focusing on developing Qatari talent.
With a network spanning 137 locations globally, dpa is renowned for its fact-based, nonpartisan journalism, serving media organizations, government institutions, and corporate clients.
During the MoU signing, Eng. Jassim Mohamed Al Khori, CEO of Media City Qatar, emphasized the importance of this partnership: “By welcoming dpa to our ecosystem of over 200 licensed partners, we reinforce our commitment to Arabic content and regional storytelling. This partnership marks a significant step in shaping the future of media, driving innovation, and ensuring that diverse regional stories reach global audiences.”
Peter Kropsch, CEO of dpa, expressed his excitement: “We are thrilled to expand dpa’s editorial presence in the Gulf region. dpa has a long history of successful Arabic reporting and a strong presence in many Arab countries. The new editorial hub in Doha will enhance our commitment to independent, non-partisan reporting from a region that is increasingly in the global spotlight.”
This collaboration underscores Media City Qatar’s role in shaping a dynamic media ecosystem in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, supporting the growth of news agencies, and fostering the development of the region’s media sector.
