Bahrain’s Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Batelco, a subsidiary of Beyon, during the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2025. The agreement is focused on developing, evaluating, and implementing solutions to enhance digital infrastructure in areas such as connectivity, voice communication, smart security, and digital signage.
Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak emphasized that the MoU will foster cooperation in developing comprehensive digital infrastructure and improve coordination in communication and voice systems. Batelco will provide the ministry with technical expertise and innovative solutions to enhance its connectivity and voice systems.
Municipal Affairs Under-Secretary Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa added that the agreement will prioritize delivering technical expertise, assessments, and recommendations to improve the communication systems. He also praised Batelco’s role in supporting sustainable development and enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure.
Batelco’s chief executive, Muna Al Hashemi, stated that the company is committed to strengthening its cooperation in digital infrastructure while exploring new opportunities in related technologies. Abdulla Danesh, Batelco’s General Manager for Enterprise, confirmed that the company will provide advanced digital solutions, including communication and voice services, to enhance municipal service quality. Additionally, Batelco will offer technical support and smart city infrastructure solutions.
