King Faisal Specialist Hospital Implements New Breast Tumor Diagnosis Technique to Improve Efficiency

The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh has introduced an advanced interventional technique for diagnosing breast tumors that conventional imaging methods may miss. This new approach enables physicians to obtain precise biopsy samples during the same visit, speeding up the diagnostic process and facilitating earlier treatment.

The shift comes in response to cases where certain breast abnormalities were only detectable through contrast-enhanced imaging, prompting the hospital to adopt contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) as a more accurate clinical tool. This new protocol eliminates the need for separate MRI-guided biopsies, which previously involved redundant procedures, increased patient burden, and delayed treatment.

The CEM-guided approach allows for immediate and precise tissue sampling during a single session, streamlining the process and reducing costs while ensuring that patients receive faster care. The implementation of this technique marks a significant advancement in breast cancer diagnosis, offering patients more efficient and timely treatment.
