Dialog Axiata Reports Strong Q1 2025 Results with Record Revenue and Profit Growth

Dialog Axiata PLC has announced its consolidated financial results for the three months ending March 31, 2025. The company recorded a revenue of Rs 43.3 billion, reflecting a 4% increase year-on-year (YoY). Core revenue rose 20% YoY, marking solid growth across its Mobile, Fixed Line, Digital Pay Television, and Telecommunication Infrastructure sectors.

EBITDA for Q1 2025 reached Rs 19.7 billion, showing a 45% YoY growth, and the EBITDA margin improved by 12.8 percentage points YoY, reaching 45.5%. The company’s Net Profit After Tax (NPAT) was Rs 4.1 billion, up 49% YoY, although it declined by 39% compared to the previous quarter (QoQ).

Dialog Axiata’s contribution to Sri Lanka’s state revenues remained significant, with total taxes paid to the Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) amounting to Rs 14.8 billion. This included Rs 4.5 billion in direct taxes and Rs 10.3 billion in indirect taxes.

Capital expenditure for Q1 2025 stood at Rs 3.7 billion, reflecting a 36% YoY increase. Operating Free Cash Flow (OFCF) reached Rs 12.3 billion, up 71% YoY and more than 100% QoQ, demonstrating improved performance and efficient capital management.

The company also earned prestigious recognition at the SLIM-KANTAR People’s Awards 2025, where it was named ‘Telecommunication Brand of the Year’ for the 14th consecutive year and ‘Service Brand of the Year’ for the 4th time. Additionally, Dialog was honored at the ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards 2024 for its commitment to sustainability and transparency.

On an entity level, Dialog Axiata PLC contributed 74% of group revenue and 72% of group EBITDA for the quarter. The company’s revenue increased 26% YoY to Rs 32.3 billion, driven by the consolidation of Airtel’s business and stable pricing in the consumer space. However, quarterly revenue saw a slight decline of 1% due to days impact. EBITDA grew by 63% YoY to Rs 14.2 billion, although it declined 21% QoQ due to increased network and manpower costs. NPAT for the company was recorded at Rs 2.9 billion, up 78% YoY but down 64% QoQ.

Dialog Television (DTV) maintained its leadership position in the Digital Pay Television market, with over 1.6 million subscribers at the end of Q1 2025. DTV revenue remained stable YoY at Rs 3.1 billion but declined by 6% QoQ due to a slowdown in subscription revenue. DTV EBITDA grew 3% YoY to Rs 475 million, although it declined 29% QoQ in line with revenue trends. NPAT for DTV was a negative Rs 367 million for the quarter.

Dialog Broadband Networks (DBN), encompassing the Group’s Fixed Telecommunications, Broadband, and International Businesses, recorded revenue of Rs 9.0 billion for Q1 2025, down 38% YoY and 17% QoQ. The decline in revenue was attributed to the scaling down of low-margin international wholesale business. However, the core fixed business saw revenue growth of 6% YoY and 2% QoQ, with EBITDA rising 24% YoY and 82% QoQ to Rs 5.0 billion. NPAT for DBN increased 72% YoY to Rs 1.6 billion.

Dialog Axiata’s strong Q1 performance underscores its leadership in Sri Lanka’s broadband and ICT sectors, while continuing to meet growing demand in both retail and corporate sectors.
