Mobile Phone Imports in Pakistan Decline by 14.21% in First Ten Months of FY 2024-25

The import of mobile phones into Pakistan has dropped by 14.21% during the first ten months of the current fiscal year (July-April 2025), according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $1.254 billion in this period, down from $1.462 billion during the same timeframe last year.

The decline is also evident on a year-on-year basis for April 2025, when mobile phone imports fell by 22.47% to $125.119 million compared to $161.384 million in April 2024. Month-on-month, imports decreased by 3.96% from $130.274 million in March 2025 to $125.119 million in April.

Despite the reduction in mobile phone imports, Pakistan’s overall merchandise exports showed a positive trend, increasing by 6.40% to $26.896 billion in July-April 2025, compared to $25.278 billion in the same period of FY24. Conversely, total imports into Pakistan rose by 7.55%, reaching $48.292 billion, up from $44.9 billion during the previous year’s corresponding period.

The decrease in mobile phone imports contrasts with the broader growth in imports, indicating a rising demand for various goods across Pakistan’s economy.
