Muscat — Oman’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth (MCSY) has introduced ‘Shabik,’ a new digital platform designed to facilitate online ticket bookings for cultural, sports, and youth events nationwide. The announcement was made during the ministry’s media forum focused on its Digital Transformation Programme.
The event also marked the launch of ‘Accelerators,’ the Gulf region’s largest hackathon, alongside strategic initiatives aimed at advancing digital services. Held under the patronage of H.E. Sayyid Saeed bin Sultan al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Culture, and H.E. Basil bin Ahmed al Rawas, Undersecretary for Sports and Youth, the forum emphasized Oman’s commitment to digital innovation.
Sultan Mohsen al Subhi, Director of the Digital Transformation Programme, highlighted that these efforts align with Oman’s national digital strategy to enhance government service efficiency through data-driven insights and research-based methodologies.
Scheduled for 2025, the eight-week ‘Accelerators’ hackathon will engage innovators, entrepreneurs, and technology experts across the Gulf to fast-track development in culture, sports, and youth sectors.
Additionally, MCSY signed six memoranda of understanding during the forum to support the hackathon, strengthen digital transformation metrics, and boost cybersecurity across its initiatives.
