African Plant Nutrition Institute Partners with Côte d’Ivoire to Transform Agricultural Education and Enhance Food Security

Rabat — The African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI), based in Morocco, has signed a partnership agreement with Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Technical Education, Vocational Training, and Apprenticeship to modernize agricultural education and improve food security across the West African nation. The agreement, signed by APNI Director General Kaushik Majumdar and Minister N’Guessan Koffi in Abidjan, aims to bring lasting benefits to rural communities and create new opportunities for young farmers.

The collaboration will focus on providing technical support to vocational and technical agricultural schools, revising curricula, developing educational modules on plant nutrition, and organizing specialized workshops. Youth training to build entrepreneurial skills in modern agriculture and farmer services lies at the heart of the initiative. APNI will also promote digital and advanced technologies to improve crop productivity and market access.

Minister Koffi highlighted the partnership’s potential to foster prosperous rural communities with reduced labor intensity and increased incomes, helping to alleviate poverty and reduce rural-to-urban migration. Both parties aim to boost agricultural productivity, climate resilience, and farm profitability through the adoption of best practices in crop management and enhanced value chains.

This partnership aligns with Côte d’Ivoire’s strategic goals to modernize agriculture and strengthen food security through technology and education, fostering sustainable rural development.
