Zain Omantel International, Horizon Scope Telecom, and ITPC Launch New Digital Corridor Connecting Middle East to Europe via Iraq

Zain Omantel International (ZOI) has teamed up with Horizon Scope Telecom and the Iraqi Telecommunications and Information Company (ITPC) to establish a new high-capacity terrestrial fibre route linking the Middle East to Europe through Iraq and Turkey, terminating in Frankfurt, Germany. This digital corridor offers a secure alternative to undersea cables, enhancing regional connectivity and delivering faster, more reliable internet services to international businesses, telecom operators, and hyperscalers.

Horizon Scope, an Iraqi ISP, will provide direct network peering and access to global internet exchanges to improve speed and reduce latency, while ITPC will ensure compliance with international standards and regulatory frameworks.

ZOI CEO Sohail Qadir highlighted the collaboration’s role in expanding connectivity, boosting capacity, and supporting digital transformation across continents. Horizon Scope’s Managing Director Ahmed Abdulsalam emphasized the importance of alternative terrestrial routes in securing infrastructure and enabling enterprise growth. ITPC Director General Ali Y. Dawood noted the partnership as a milestone strengthening Iraq’s role as a key connectivity corridor and fostering economic growth locally and internationally.
