e& UAE Sets Global Record with 600Mbps Uplink Speed on Live 5G Network

e&, the UAE’s flagship telecom operator, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in 5G-Advanced technology by recording an uplink (UL) speed of 600Mbps on a live 5G network — a global first. This landmark was accomplished by aggregating FR1 bands at 2100MHz and C-band, combined with Uplink 3Tx (three transmit antennas) on commercial Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) at a fully 3GPP Release 17-compliant live site.

This unprecedented uplink performance marks a critical advancement in 5G-Advanced, enabling uplink-heavy applications with unrivaled speed and reliability. By harnessing FR1 band aggregation alongside cutting-edge uplink technology, e& UAE has set a new global standard in 5G connectivity excellence.

For end users, this breakthrough will revolutionize digital experiences: content creators can upload 8K videos and immersive live streams to platforms like YouTube and TikTok within seconds. Gamers will benefit from seamless, lag-free cloud connectivity. Smart homes will achieve greater efficiency by instantly uploading high-definition video and IoT data. Virtual event hosting and user-generated augmented reality (AR) content will flourish thanks to this uplift in uplink capacity, making interactions faster, richer, and more engaging than ever before.

Built on the robust foundation of 3GPP Release 17, this world-record uplink integrates advanced capabilities including enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), delivering next-generation, scalable, and energy-efficient networks.

Abdulrahman Al Humaidan, Vice President of Fixed Access Network at e& UAE, emphasized, “Our 600Mbps uplink speed is more than a technological breakthrough — it is a strategic catalyst for global digital innovation, positioning the UAE as a leader in shaping the future of connectivity.”
