Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world’s largest single-site aluminium smelter, has successfully migrated to RISE with SAP Private Cloud Edition (PCE), marking a significant step toward a modernized, scalable, and high-performance digital platform. This upgrade enhances Alba’s operational capabilities with improved functionality, a superior user experience, and advanced analytics—key elements to thrive in today’s evolving industrial environment.
Alba’s CEO, Ali Al Baqali, emphasized the strategic importance of the migration: “Our migration to Rise with SAP Private Cloud is more than a technological upgrade; it’s a strategic leap forward. This advanced digital infrastructure will not only streamline our operations but more importantly, empower our teams with real-time insights, enabling faster, more informed decisions that drive productivity and sustain our competitive edge in the market.”
Saquib Ahmad, Managing Director for SAP Bahrain, highlighted the collaboration behind the success: “This complex deployment serves as a powerful example of remarkable outcomes achievable through a strong partnership between a forward-thinking customer and a dedicated delivery team. Completed within a nine-month timeframe, we ensured a seamless transformation, paving the way for sustained digital innovation across the region’s industrial landscape.”
The project involved a technically complex brownfield conversion from SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 8 to SAP S/4HANA 2022. Key components included migrating satellite systems, performing technical code remediation, and integrating SAP Fiori and SAP Analytics Cloud.
The success was made possible by close cooperation between Alba and SAP’s Customer Success & Delivery (CS&D) team, leveraging both global expertise and regional capabilities throughout the conversion and cutover phases.
