Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the world’s largest smelter operating on a single site, has completed its migration to RISE with SAP Private Cloud Edition (PCE), marking a significant milestone in its digital transformation journey. This achievement was realized through a strategic partnership with SAP’s Customer Success & Delivery (CS&D) team.
The migration equips Alba with a modern, scalable, and high-performance digital platform that enhances functionality, user experience, and analytics capabilities—key factors for thriving in today’s evolving industrial landscape.
Ali Al Baqali, CEO of Alba, highlighted the importance of the upgrade, stating, “Our migration to RISE with SAP Private Cloud is more than a technological upgrade; it’s a strategic leap forward. This advanced digital infrastructure will streamline operations and empower our teams with real-time insights for faster, informed decision-making that drives productivity and sustains our competitive edge.”

The project involved a complex brownfield conversion from SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 8 to SAP S/4HANA 2022, including satellite system migrations, technical code remediation, and integration of SAP Fiori and SAP Analytics Cloud. The success was enabled by close collaboration leveraging global expertise and regional capabilities throughout all phases.
