Rakuten Symphony and Tejas Networks Forge Strategic Partnership to Develop and Market Open RAN Solutions

Rakuten Symphony and Tejas Networks have announced a multi-faceted strategic partnership aimed at developing integrated Open RAN solutions and jointly marketing them in India and international markets.

The collaboration will integrate Rakuten Symphony’s cloud-native CU and DU software, OSS, and cloud portfolio with Tejas’s 4G/5G radio equipment. Both companies will also explore opportunities to deploy and expand 4G and 5G networks domestically and abroad. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Sharad Sriwastawa, President of Rakuten Symphony, highlighted the goal to deliver open, flexible, and high-performance network solutions by combining Rakuten’s cloud orchestration capabilities with Tejas’s proven radio technology.

While India’s major private telcos show cautious interest in Open RAN—with only Vodafone Idea conducting trials—this partnership looks beyond India to overseas markets such as the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia, where Rakuten Symphony is already running Open RAN trials.

Kumar N. Sivarajan, CTO and co-founder of Tejas, emphasized combining Tejas’s RAN infrastructure with Rakuten’s resilient cloud-native software to offer a compelling global solution.
