Oman Meteorology Launches Upgraded Website and Mobile App with Real-Time AI-Driven Weather Forecasts

Muscat – Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has unveiled an enhanced Oman Meteorology website and mobile application, delivering real-time weather data and improved forecasting tools across the Sultanate. The launch was announced during the CAA’s annual media briefing, attended by government representatives and strategic partners under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information.

Abdullah bin Rashid al Khadouri, Director General of Oman Meteorology at CAA, highlighted the platform’s new user-friendly interface and colour-coded alert system indicating weather intensity such as wind, rain, and wave activity to aid public precautionary measures.

Integrating artificial intelligence for advanced meteorological data analysis, the platform offers accurate, location-specific forecasts and alerts. Features include daily and hourly forecasts, early warnings for weather risks like heavy rain, high winds, fog, flooding, and tropical systems, as well as interactive maps, data visualization tools, and detailed weather reports.

Previously dependent on external radar data, the upgraded platform now accesses meteorological inputs directly from five operational radars within Oman, alongside satellite data. This comprehensive data delivery supports government agencies, private sector entities, military operations, and the general public.

Khadouri emphasized that the platform enhances transparency and innovation in Oman’s meteorological services, supporting emergency preparedness, academic research, and improving public weather awareness and response.
