SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE and Royal College have joined forces to deploy Sri Lanka’s first full-scale Passive Optical LAN (POL) solution powered by Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology, marking a milestone in digital education infrastructure.
This fiber-based system connects classrooms and learning spaces with ultra-fast, reliable broadband designed to transform teaching and learning experiences. The project aims to equip students and educators with cutting-edge digital tools necessary for success in today’s technology-driven world.
The agreement was signed by Janaka Abeysinghe, CEO of SLT Group, and Aruna Samarajewa, Secretary of the Royal College Union, alongside key officials from both organizations.
As the nation’s inaugural enterprise-grade POL deployment in education, the network incorporates robust security features ensuring safe browsing, controlled access to resources, and protection against cyber threats. This secure environment fosters trust among parents, educators, and the wider community while safeguarding sensitive academic data.
SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE’s collaboration with Royal College underscores its leadership in delivering innovative technology solutions to the education sector. The project represents a crucial step toward expanding advanced digital infrastructure across Sri Lanka’s educational institutions, supporting national efforts to bridge the digital divide and provide equitable access to high-quality learning environments.
