Rabat – Morocco’s telecom regulator, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT), has initiated a competitive tender to grant licenses for establishing and operating 5G mobile networks. This step is part of the country’s broader Digital 2030 strategy, aligning with national telecom sector goals to accelerate digital transformation and economic growth.
The ANRT highlighted that deploying 5G technology will equip Morocco with advanced mobile communication capabilities, offering faster data speeds, lower latency, and real-time communication support. These enhancements are expected to benefit multiple sectors, including industry, transport, healthcare, and agriculture.
The tender documentation specifies the legal, technical, and financial requirements for building and managing 5G networks. It also defines service provision rules, network coverage and quality obligations, and details the evaluation and selection process for licensees.
This initiative aims to position Morocco at the forefront of digital innovation and infrastructure readiness, fostering sustainable social and economic development.
