Algeria’s HTT and Xiamen Airlines Sign Agreement to Boost Digital Tourism Cooperation

In Algiers on Tuesday evening, the Hotel-Tourism and Thermal Group (HTT) and Xiamen Airlines International Travel Service CO. LTD signed a framework agreement to enhance cooperation in digital development and promote tourism and hospitality products and services. The ceremony, held at the El Djazair hotel, was presided over by Algeria’s Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Houria Meddahi, and attended by government officials, senior executives, and ambassadors, coinciding with the conclusion of the 24th International Tourism and Travel Fair (SITEV 2025).

Minister Meddahi highlighted the agreement’s alignment with Algeria’s strategic priority to digitize the tourism sector and effectively market its vast tourist potential. She emphasized the continued strengthening of Algerian-Chinese cooperation in tourism, rooted in longstanding bilateral friendship and mutual understanding.

Chinese Ambassador Dong Guangli expressed satisfaction with the robust Algeria-China relations and the mutual interest in expanding cooperation in culture and tourism, key economic drivers for both nations.

SITEV 2025 featured 340 exhibitors from 27 countries and 38 startups focused on digitizing tourism services. Numerous national organizations—including airlines, Algiers airport, urban transport, and insurance firms—participated alongside artisans showcasing Algeria’s rich cultural heritage.

Awards were presented recognizing excellence in various categories: the Ministry of Culture and Arts won Best Algerian Pavilion; Air Algérie received Most Innovative Pavilion; a Batna-based startup won Most Attractive Pavilion; and China was awarded Best Foreign Pavilion. Palestine and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic received special honors for courage and perseverance. The Ministry also recognized “Fennec Booking” as Best Tourism Application, while a Djanet-based startup was awarded for Best Digital Solution, and the El Waha troupe from Brezina municipality was also honored.

The fair, held from July 12 to 15 under the theme “Travel to the heart of Algeria and enjoy authentic tourism and a thousand-year-old civilization,” served as a vital platform to strengthen partnerships, exchange experiences, and encourage investment in tourism, a key driver of Algeria’s economic growth.
