Oman Investment and Finance Company (OIFC), known as Khedmah, announced on Sunday the launch of an international mobile recharge service that enables prepaid mobile users to top up accounts in 16 countries through the Khedmah app.
The service covers Afghanistan, Australia, Benin, Botswana, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Malawi, Nepal, the Philippines, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, and Zimbabwe. Targeted at both residents and expatriates in Oman, the platform connects with over 43 international telecom operators via Prepay Nation, with whom Khedmah formed a partnership in April 2025.
Prepay Nation collaborates with over 500 telecom operators and digital brands across more than 150 countries, offering app-based prepaid services including mobile top-ups, data plans, digital gift cards, and utility bill payments.
Zaaima Al Qasimi, Senior Manager of Business Development at Khedmah, said, “Through this service, we aim to facilitate communication between individuals and their families around the world by offering a secure and fast digital experience.” She added that the launch aligns with Khedmah’s broader strategy to expand digital services within and beyond Oman.
Expats made up 43.25% of Oman’s population at the end of 2024. The international mobile top-up market in Oman is valued at approximately US$27 million, with a serviceable addressable market of about US$2.7 million. The IMF estimates Oman’s annual remittance outflow at US$6.7 billion in 2024.
