The Federation of Information Technology Sri Lanka (FITIS), the nation’s leading IT industry body, has launched its strategic roadmap to support the government’s goal of building a $15 billion digital economy by 2030. Announced at a media event in Colombo, FITIS outlined initiatives aimed at driving digital transformation, innovation, and inclusive economic growth.
FITIS Chairman Dr. Dayan Rajapakse emphasized collaboration between the private sector, government, academia, and international partners to create a stable, investor-friendly environment and position Sri Lanka as a leading digital innovation hub in Asia. The roadmap focuses on fostering emerging technologies, developing a future-ready workforce, and promoting sustainable digital growth to enhance global competitiveness.
Key FITIS programs supporting this vision include:
- INFOTEL National ICT Exhibition: An annual platform since 1992 showcasing the latest in information and communication technology.
- API Asia Conference: Dedicated to advancing digital transformation, covering AI, robotics, IoT, cybersecurity, fintech, smart cities, and more.
- Digi SME Initiative: A centralized platform empowering MSMEs with digital tools tailored to their needs.
- Young Computer Scientist Competition: A national contest promoting excellence among emerging tech talent.
- Digital Excellence Awards (DEX): Annual recognition of leadership in digital innovation.
- Sri Lanka Digital Day: A flagship event uniting stakeholders to discuss digital trends and challenges.
