Pilot Launch and Modernization Goals
The pilot phase begins on September 1, marking a pivotal moment in Jordan’s efforts to enhance travel documentation security and speed. This initiative not only introduces a new type of passport but also represents a broader shift in how citizens interact with government services, aligning the Kingdom with international best practices.
Features of the E-Passport
The Jordanian e-passport integrates advanced technology and security:
- Smart electronic chip storing biometric and personal data for faster border processing.
- Polycarbonate data page offering durability and resistance to damage.
- Advanced anti-forgery security features, invisible to the naked eye.
These upgrades enhance both travel efficiency and protection against identity theft and fraud.
Application Process and Options
Citizens can apply via the Sanad government app or the CSPD e-services portal, removing the need for in-person visits. Processing and delivery are guaranteed within 72 hours, a significant improvement on current timelines.
The e-passport is optional, valid for five years, while traditional passports will continue to be issued for the next two years, giving citizens flexibility during the transition.

The initiative adheres to ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standards, ensuring global recognition and smoother travel for Jordanians.
