Bahrain Space Agency CEO Highlights Strategic Role of Ground Infrastructure in Satellite Era

Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency (BSA), took part in the International Symposium on the Development of Ground Infrastructure to Support the Technological Revolution in Satellite Systems, which explored how modern ground networks can drive the integration of future space systems.

Dr. Al Aseeri underscored the critical role of advanced ground stations in meeting the demands of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites and highlighted the need to update legislative frameworks for ground station licensing to match rapid technological developments. He also emphasized innovative spectrum management to avoid interference in increasingly congested orbits, and the importance of seamless integration between space and ground systems to deliver services in telecommunications, IoT, and environmental monitoring.

The BSA’s participation aimed to promote best practices in developing and licensing ground infrastructure at the national level while aligning with international standards. Dr. Al Aseeri said these efforts would enhance Bahrain’s appeal to satellite operators and industry leaders, strengthening international cooperation and positioning the Kingdom as a regional hub for satellite communications.

He stressed that ground networks represent the backbone of the new satellite era, and Bahrain’s commitment to building integrated systems from space to ground reflects its ambition to advance smart satellite communications, bolster the national economy, and create new opportunities for investment and employment.
