Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat met with Indian Ambassador to Egypt Suresh Reddy on Monday to explore expanding bilateral cooperation in the ICT sector. Discussions focused on outsourcing, digital capacity-building, artificial intelligence, start-up support, and attracting more Indian investment into Egypt’s fast-growing ICT market.
The meeting highlighted progress under the existing Memorandum of Understanding between both countries, covering areas such as e-government, ICT industry development, digital innovation and entrepreneurship, electronics design and manufacturing, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. Indian investments in outsourcing, electronics, and digital transformation in Egypt were also reviewed.
Talaat emphasized the ICT sector’s importance as a driver of Egypt’s economy, especially outsourcing, citing successful collaborations with Indian IT firms already operating in the country. He also pointed to ongoing cooperation between Egypt’s Information Technology Institute (ITI) and its Indian counterpart in building digital skills, expressing optimism about strengthening Egypt’s digital talent pipeline.
Ambassador Reddy congratulated Talaat on Egypt being chosen to host the inaugural AI Everything Middle East and Africa Summit and Exhibition in February. He noted that India will also host the AI Impact Summit the same month, calling both events milestones for international collaboration in artificial intelligence. He expressed confidence that ICT ties between Egypt and India will continue to expand.
The talks were also attended by Sherine El Gendy, Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation, and Samah Aziz, Head of International Relations at the Ministry.
