Kenya and Kuwait to Sign MoU on Digital Economy and ICT Cooperation

Nairobi — Kenya has announced plans to strengthen ties with Kuwait through a new partnership focused on advancing the digital economy and promoting joint training initiatives. The announcement was made by Hon. William Kabogo Gitau following his meeting with Kuwait’s Charge d’Affaires in Nairobi, Mr. Abdullahi Al-Fahad.

The two countries are preparing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will formalize collaboration across several key sectors, including Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Health, Transport, and Labour. The initiative aligns with Kenya’s ongoing digital transformation strategy, which includes:

  • Rolling out 100,000 kilometers of high-speed fiber optic cable.
  • Establishing 1,450 digital hubs nationwide.
  • Expanding digital literacy programs to empower communities.

The partnership with Kuwait is expected to complement these efforts by introducing new avenues for knowledge-sharing, skills training, and technological exchange, while also reinforcing the long-standing diplomatic relationship between the two nations.
