Rabat, August 2025 — Morocco’s mobile and internet markets have continued their upward trajectory in the first half of 2025, with mobile subscriptions reaching 58.8 million by the end of June, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF). This represents a 3.2% year-on-year increase, following a sharper 5.2% growth in the same period of 2024.
Mobile Penetration Soars
Morocco’s mobile penetration rate hit 159.5%, compared to 152.4% in June 2024 and 127.1% in mid-2019. The figure highlights the widespread use of multiple SIM cards and devices, pushing subscriptions well beyond the size of the population.
Internet Subscriptions See Solid Growth
The internet sector also showed strong performance, with 41.2 million subscriptions by mid-2025, marking a 5.2% increase year-on-year. The internet penetration rate reached 111.8%, up from 104.8% in 2024 and 66.2% in 2019—underscoring Morocco’s rapid digital adoption over the past five years.
Media Consumption Trends
Kantar’s Africascope Maghreb 2024 report revealed that Moroccans spend nearly six hours daily (5 hours and 46 minutes) consuming media across television, radio, and online platforms, with particularly dynamic usage patterns in major urban centers.
