Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has signed a landmark cooperation agreement with stc Bahrain to launch the kingdom’s first digital bus station, marking a major step in the nation’s smart mobility journey.
The initiative reflects Bahrain’s commitment to adopting innovative, technology-driven solutions that enhance public services and advance the goals of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. The stc Digital Bus Station will serve as a model for future smart transport hubs across the country, providing a data-driven foundation for planning, improving service reliability, and advancing sustainable urban mobility.
Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Undersecretary of Land Transport and Post at the Ministry, emphasized that this project represents a milestone in modernizing Bahrain’s transportation sector. She noted that it enhances passenger experience, integrates advanced digital solutions, and aligns with both Bahrain’s long-term economic vision and the UN Sustainable Development Goal 11 for sustainable cities and communities.
Sheikh Zeyad bin Faisal Al Khalifa, Chief Government Affairs Officer at stc Bahrain, described the project as more than a technological upgrade. He called it a strategic investment in the kingdom’s infrastructure and future competitiveness, reinforcing stc’s role as Bahrain’s leading digital enabler.
By embedding intelligent systems into public transport, the project demonstrates the strength of public-private collaboration in building sustainable, connected cities.
