Muscat – The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has rolled out a major update to its official mobile application, adding a suite of new digital services aimed at simplifying access to public services and advancing the Sultanate’s e-governance goals. The upgraded app is now available on both Android and iOS platforms.
Among the new features, users can now display family information, update phone numbers for children under 18, and view digital copies of vital documents such as birth certificates, passports, and investor cards. The app also provides visibility of details for individuals under sponsorship.
In a groundbreaking move, ROP has introduced the option to book inmate visitations via video calls, removing the need for physical visits to correctional facilities. Additionally, first-time applications for driving licences can now be submitted directly through the app, streamlining a process that previously required in-person visits. The update also includes a feature for reporting cases related to human trafficking.
ROP affirmed that these enhancements reflect its commitment to delivering efficient digital services while supporting Oman’s national digital transformation agenda under Vision 2040.
This initiative builds on ROP’s recognition in May, when it won the Arab Digital Economy Award 2025 in the Government Innovation category for its electronic customs platform “Bayan” at Seamless Middle East in Dubai. The Bayan system, powered by artificial intelligence, integrates more than 495 e-services and connects 74 government and private entities, significantly simplifying customs procedures, improving service efficiency, and accelerating trade between Oman and international partners.
