Algeria has secured a $300 million trade agreement with Nigeria to supply two million electronic payment terminals (EPTs), marking one of the landmark deals of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) in Algiers. The agreement was signed at the Pins Maritimes Exhibition Centre between Inatel, a subsidiary of Algeria’s National Telecommunications Company (ENTC), and Chinese manufacturer Morefun Electronic Technology.
Under the contract, the devices will be manufactured in Algeria before being exported to Nigeria, strengthening Algeria’s role in Africa’s digital technology market. The deal was formalized in the presence of Algeria’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, and Omar Rekkache, Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI).
Minister Zerrouki highlighted the agreement as a major step in advancing Algeria’s industrial strategy, boosting local manufacturing, and reinforcing regional economic integration. He stressed that exporting Algerian-made digital solutions will help national firms compete more effectively in Africa’s fast-growing digital finance landscape.
This initiative underscores Algeria’s ambition to position itself as a regional hub for electronic solutions, while supporting the continent’s broader shift toward digital payments and financial inclusion.
