Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed an agreement to enhance government services by exchanging expertise and adopting advanced technologies, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties. The partnership emphasizes digital innovation as a driver of governance, public service delivery, and human capital growth.
The cooperation focuses on five key areas: fostering innovation, boosting competitiveness, improving government performance, upgrading service delivery, and accelerating technology adoption. A flagship initiative under the agreement is the training of 10 million coders in Indonesia over the next three years, supported by the UAE. The program aims to equip youth with vital skills in software development, programming, and AI to prepare them for future digital economies.
Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria described the initiative as a cross-ministerial collaboration facilitated by the UAE, highlighting its role in improving government performance. UAE Deputy Minister Abdulla Nasser Lootah emphasized that the 10 million coders initiative is the largest digital skills program currently undertaken by his government.
The partnership follows Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to the UAE on September 12, where he and President Mohammed bin Zayed reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in technology, innovation, and human capital. Beyond digital governance, collaboration extends to food security, where Indonesia seeks UAE support to enhance agricultural productivity and global market access for local products.
Additionally, Indonesia’s Supreme Audit Board (BPK) and the UAE Accountability Authority (UAEAA) agreed to deepen cooperation in auditing, anti-corruption, IT oversight, and capacity building, strengthening transparency and accountability in governance.
This comprehensive partnership reflects a shared vision for sustainable and inclusive growth. By aligning efforts across digital transformation, innovation, food security, and governance, Indonesia and the UAE aim to build a resilient, future-ready partnership that positions both nations as leaders in technology-driven global cooperation.
