Muscat – The 34th COMEX Global Technology Exhibition highlighted Oman’s growing digital ambitions with the unveiling of 15 new government applications, platforms, and services, alongside the signing of six strategic agreements and partnerships with public and private entities. The initiatives reinforce Oman’s commitment to driving innovation under Oman Vision 2040.
New Digital Applications and Platforms
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology launched a Unified Government Services Portal mobile app with a smart assistant, plus the Thiqa digital identity app for secure access across platforms. Other key launches included:
- Riyada app by the SMEs Development Authority for entrepreneurs.
- Taswiah system by the Ministry of Interior for conciliation and mediation services.
- Tharawat app and Hasad internal platform by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
- Tajawob app for citizen feedback on government services.
- Oman Business Platform by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.
- Digital Judicial Library by the Supreme Judicial Council.
- A redesigned Muscat Municipality website.
- Electronic payroll transfer platform by the Ministry of Finance.
- Al Dhahirah Governorate app and several smart initiatives, including a digital twin, drones for project monitoring, and AR-based awareness tools.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) introduced three systems: Number Portability, Telecom Licensing, and the Best Package system.
Strategic Agreements
Highlights included a major partnership between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Bahwan CyberTek, and academic and professional bodies to develop national digital competencies. The Environment Authority signed three contracts to:
- Enhance digital user experience.
- Build a national system for radioactive source and nuclear material tracking.
- Establish a resource and asset management system.
Oman’s Digital Transformation Vision
The strong presence of government entities at COMEX underscored an integrated approach to digital governance, citizen engagement, and smart infrastructure development. By aligning with Oman Vision 2040, these initiatives strengthen the sultanate’s role in shaping a globally competitive digital economy.
