RABAT, Sept 13: Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform has signed an agreement with the National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection (CNDP) to build a national platform for responsible artificial intelligence.
The agreement, signed by Minister Delegate Amale Falah and CNDP President Omar Seghrouchni, will steer the development of large language models adapted to Morocco’s language, culture, legal system, and digital identity.
Officials emphasized that the initiative will enable citizens, businesses, and government institutions to use safe generative AI tools designed to uphold ethical standards and protect fundamental rights. The ministry described the project as a “strategic step” toward ensuring AI sovereignty, ethics, and responsibility, while positioning Morocco as a leader in digital innovation both in Africa and on the global stage.
