Telecom Egypt Expands Regional Reach with New PoP at Aqaba Digital Hub

Telecom Egypt has announced the launch of a new point of presence (PoP) at the Aqaba Digital Hub (ADH), Jordan’s Tier III carrier-neutral data centre. The company says the new PoP will serve as a key interconnection hub, boosting connectivity for businesses and hyperscalers across the Middle East as demand for high-bandwidth services continues to grow.

The move comes just weeks after Telecom Egypt and ADH’s telecom arm, NaiTel, completed the Coral Bridge express subsea cable linking Egypt and Jordan across the Gulf of Aqaba. The 15-km subsea system, built with 48 fibre pairs, is capable of carrying over 1 Petabit of data traffic, meeting the surging requirements of cloud, AI, and other data-heavy applications.

According to Mohamed Nasr, Telecom Egypt’s MD and CEO, combining Coral Bridge with the ADH PoP strengthens the region’s digital infrastructure by offering diverse routes, improved resilience, and seamless connectivity. “These investments not only bridge Egypt and Jordan but also create new pathways for international traffic aggregation, supporting innovation and digital collaboration across continents,” he said.

Eyad Abu Khorma, founder and CEO of ADH, added that pairing Egypt’s global subsea reach with Aqaba’s neutral landing station and Tier III data centre establishes new digital gateways that will reinforce Jordan’s position as a strategic connectivity hub for the Middle East and beyond.
