Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, concluded a four-day visit to the United States with a series of high-level meetings in California aimed at boosting cooperation in electronics design, semiconductor manufacturing, and artificial intelligence (AI).
In California, Talaat met with Wei Xiao, Director of Developer Relations for the Middle East and Africa at NVIDIA, where he was briefed on the company’s latest technological solutions and AI initiatives in the region. The minister highlighted Egypt’s efforts to build AI capabilities and expand training for specialists to accelerate digital transformation.
He also met with Sanjay Gajendra, President and COO of Astera Labs, to discuss avenues for collaboration that leverage Egyptian expertise in electronics and semiconductors. In another session, Talaat spoke with Stephen Ozoigbo, Head of Government Partnerships and Ecosystems at Arm, exploring investment opportunities in Egypt’s electronics sector.
The visit included participation in the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) Forum, where Talaat exchanged expertise with global leaders in semiconductor manufacturing and innovation. He also held bilateral meetings in New York and California with U.S. and international firms to promote Egypt as a competitive hub for ICT investment.
Through these engagements, Egypt aims to strengthen its position in the global semiconductor supply chain and expand its role in emerging technologies, aligning with national strategies for digital transformation and economic growth.
