Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has confirmed that it will launch an auction for 80 MHz of spectrum in the 1.4 GHz band (1432–1512 MHz) on October 13, 2025, aimed at boosting broadband wireless access services.
According to state news agency Antara, Telkom Indonesia, MyRepublic, and Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama (Viberlink) are the three operators eligible to enter the bidding stage, following an initial round in August where seven companies submitted applications. The auction will be conducted via the ministry’s e-Auction system.
The move is underpinned by Ministerial Decree No. 337, which set aside the 80 MHz allocation across three regions for broadband expansion. Globally, the 1.4 GHz band is often used to provide additional downlink capacity for 4G and 5G networks, enhancing coverage and performance.
Wayan Toni Supriyanto, Director General of Digital Infrastructure at Kemkomdigi, said the auction would open new opportunities for operators to increase service capacity, extend coverage, and broaden affordable internet access for Indonesian consumers.
The auction reflects Indonesia’s broader strategy to accelerate digital inclusion and connectivity by strengthening network infrastructure and supporting future-ready spectrum policies.
