The Arab Youth Center’s 4th Arab Youth Tech Fellowship Programme is underway at the Abu Dhabi Global Market Academy, gathering 23 young innovators from eight Arab countries — the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, and Morocco. Running for 12 days until October 17, 2025, the fellowship covers four thematic tracks: Artificial Intelligence, Health Technology, Climate Tech & Sustainability, and Web3.
Day two, themed around Health Tech, spotlighted the role of AI in advancing healthcare and improving quality of life across the Arab world. The day opened with a keynote on global health innovation trends, underscoring the need for intelligent systems to enhance diagnostic accuracy, streamline care delivery, and boost operational efficiency.
AI-Powered Healthcare and Digital Twins Debut
During the sessions, Dr. Bashayer Mohammed Mousa from the University of Sharjah discussed breakthroughs in AI-powered medical research, explaining how smart data applications are reshaping diagnostics and treatment planning. She emphasized AI’s potential to connect medical analysis with actionable data, opening new opportunities for Arab researchers.
A major highlight was the first-ever demonstration of a Human Digital Twin in the Gulf, led by Dr. Jamil El-Imad from Imperial College London via Zoom. The interactive session showcased how digital twin technologies can simulate the human body, allowing real-time monitoring of vital signs, prediction of disease progression, and virtual testing of treatment plans. The innovation promises to reduce costly traditional testing, optimize healthcare resources, and improve system sustainability.
Workshops and Entrepreneurship Training
Participants also attended a practical workshop titled “Startups: Pitching and Storytelling Skills,” conducted by Hind Khalifat from Daraya Speaker Platform, focusing on communication strategies for pitching ideas to investors and incubators. The day concluded with a visit to StartAD, where fellows explored the UAE’s innovation ecosystem, startup acceleration frameworks, and opportunities for Arab talent within the country’s digital economy.
Empowering Future Arab Tech Leaders
The fellowship — one of the flagship initiatives of the Arab Youth Center — aims to empower Arab youth in key future sectors including technology, innovation, environment, and sustainability. The program is supported by strategic partners such as the Office of Artificial Intelligence, Microsoft, Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, University of Sharjah, Imperial College London, e&, StartAD, Daraya Speaker Platform, HG Group, Abu Dhabi Global Market Academy, and KIZAD – Abu Dhabi.
Complementing the fellowship’s focus, Dr. Zeyad Alrais, Head of the Emirates Division of Intensive Care at the Emirates Medical Association, highlighted at a separate conference how AI integration into ventilator systems is transforming respiratory care — automatically adjusting ventilation parameters in real time to enhance patient outcomes and reduce complications.
Together, these efforts reflect the region’s growing commitment to AI-driven healthcare innovation, positioning Arab youth and researchers at the forefront of global digital health transformation.
