Nepal Telecom Expands 4G Coverage to Marma, Bringing Connectivity to Api Mountain Region

Nepal Telecom (NTC) has officially launched 4G mobile service in Bhurbhure, Marma Rural Municipality of Darchula district, extending high-speed connectivity to the remote Api Mountain area — one of Nepal’s most scenic and challenging tourist destinations.

The new 4G coverage not only benefits local residents but also serves trekkers and tourists visiting Api Mountain, allowing them to stay connected with family and friends. In addition to faster data speeds, users can also enjoy high-definition VoLTE voice calls, marking a new phase of modern communication for the region.

According to NTC, a new cell tower installed in Bhurbhure now provides strong 4G signals across the surrounding mountainous terrain. The Ministry of Communication noted that the enhanced connectivity will not only support daily communication needs but also improve emergency and rescue operations, a critical service in such remote, high-altitude areas.

The expansion is part of NTC’s broader goal to bring 4G coverage to every local level by 2082/83 (2025–26). The state-run telecom operator has been rapidly extending its network into rural and hard-to-reach areas, recently activating 4G in Tilicho Base Camp and expanding aggressively across Karnali and Gandaki provinces.

With over 14.2 million 4G users nationwide and coverage reaching 99% of local levels, NTC’s efforts are transforming connectivity across Nepal, bridging the digital divide between urban centers and remote regions.

The rollout in Marma underscores NTC’s commitment to inclusive digital access, enhancing tourism, safety, and economic opportunities through reliable high-speed communication.
