Jordan’s Mobile Phone Imports Drop 21% Amid Weaker Consumer Demand

Amman — October 21, 2025: Jordan’s imports of mobile phones have seen a significant decline during the first nine months of 2025, reflecting reduced consumer spending and sluggish demand in the telecommunications market.

According to data released by the Jordan Customs Department, the Kingdom imported around 1.34 million mobile devices valued at JD123 million between January and September 2025. This represents a 21% drop in value and a 19% decrease in volume compared with the same period in 2024, when 1.7 million units worth JD143 million were imported.

Ahmad Aloush, Chairman of the Vision Association for Mobile Devices Investors, attributed the decline to weakened purchasing power among consumers amid ongoing economic pressures. He noted that the reported figures are based on certified customs invoices, providing an accurate measure of actual import activity in the sector.

The data highlights a broader slowdown in retail electronics demand across Jordan as consumers continue to prioritize essential spending amid tightening economic conditions.
