Pakistan to Launch First National Esports Policy and Federation to Empower Gamers

Pakistan is set to introduce its first-ever national esports policy and establish a dedicated Esports Federation, marking a major milestone in the country’s recognition of gaming as a legitimate digital industry. The move underscores the government’s growing commitment to youth empowerment through technology and innovation.

According to an official press release, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, said the initiative reflects Pakistan’s strategic effort to harness the potential of one of the world’s fastest-growing digital sectors. With an estimated 60 million gaming enthusiasts nationwide, the new policy will provide a structured framework for players, developers, and industry professionals.

“Esports is a multibillion-dollar global industry that offers opportunities through international competitions, sponsorships, and prize money,” Khan noted. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government is expanding digital opportunities for young people, positioning esports as a central pillar of Pakistan’s innovation agenda.”

Pakistan has already made impressive progress in competitive gaming, particularly in international titles like Tekken and PUBG Mobile, where Pakistani players have earned global recognition. Officials believe the esports policy will formalize this momentum, creating institutional support for tournaments, sponsorships, and talent development while paving the way for greater international participation.

This policy marks Pakistan’s formal entry into the global esports ecosystem — a step that could open doors for investment, job creation, and international partnerships in digital entertainment and gaming technology.
