The fourth edition of the African Startup Conference, scheduled to take place from 6–8 December in Algiers, is set to reinforce Algeria’s growing influence as a continental leader in innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship, according to Noureddine Ouadah, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises.
Speaking on national radio, Ouadah described the upcoming edition as “remarkable,” noting its strong backing from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and its role in positioning Algeria as a key driver of Africa’s digital and entrepreneurial transformation.
A Hub for Innovation and Investment
Ouadah emphasized that the conference will serve as a major platform for attracting foreign investment, particularly from international funding institutions eager to engage with Africa’s expanding startup ecosystem. He highlighted Algeria’s new legislative framework, which now enables the creation of sub-investment funds, providing a stronger financing environment for startups.
The 2025 conference will bring together around 200 African startups, including a significant representation from Algeria, showcasing groundbreaking ventures across multiple sectors. Rwanda has been named the guest of honor, reflecting deepening African cooperation in fostering cross-border innovation and entrepreneurship.
Building on Continental Momentum
The minister noted that this edition follows the success of the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), held in Algeria in September, which solidified the country’s reputation for hosting major African business and technology events. The African Startup Conference will continue this momentum by providing a youth-driven platform for innovators, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to collaborate on advancing Africa’s startup landscape.
Fostering a Unified Innovation Ecosystem
The conference aims to highlight African success stories and develop joint strategies to overcome challenges in financing, talent retention, and capital mobility. Sessions will explore how innovative ideas can be transformed into scalable tech enterprises capable of driving sustainable development across the continent.
Currently in its final preparation phase, the African Startup Conference stands as the largest event of its kind in Africa, embodying Algeria’s vision of nurturing a knowledge-based economy and a continent-wide innovation ecosystem built on youth empowerment, collaboration, and technological excellence.
