Hanoi, Vietnam — October 30, 2025:
Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Amr Talaat, has concluded an official visit to Vietnam aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in telecommunications, electronics manufacturing, and digital transformation. Accompanied by Egypt’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Hany Mostafa, Dr. Talaat held a series of meetings with senior executives from major Vietnamese and global technology firms.
Strengthening Cooperation with FPT Group and Viettel
Dr. Talaat met with Rimah Ghaddar, Managing Director of FPT Software Middle East, and senior FPT Corporation officials to discuss potential collaboration in IT applications, semiconductor development, and digital capacity-building programs. The dialogue also explored joint ventures between Egyptian and Vietnamese firms to serve markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with a focus on ICT, EV technology, and electronics.
He also held discussions with Cao Anh Son, Deputy General Director of Viettel Group, covering opportunities in 5G deployment, AI, IoT, and integrated circuit (IC) design. Both sides expressed interest in establishing long-term partnerships to advance telecommunications and digital infrastructure development.
Engagements with Samsung and VNPT
At Samsung Electronics Vietnam, Dr. Talaat met with Na Ki Hong, General Director, and toured Samsung’s smartphone manufacturing complex. The visit highlighted Egypt’s growing electronics manufacturing sector, where Samsung already has a presence. The Minister emphasized Egypt’s vision to attract more global investors to its local assembly and R&D ecosystem.
In talks with Tran Huu Quyen, Chairman of VNPT, discussions focused on expanding electronics and telecom equipment manufacturing in Egypt. Dr. Talaat highlighted Egypt’s skilled workforce, digital infrastructure, and favorable investment climate, presenting Egypt as a regional hub for VNPT’s operations.
Showcasing Egypt’s Cybercrime Capabilities
Representing Egypt at the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime signing ceremony, Dr. Talaat highlighted Egypt’s progress in digital security and justice. Egypt organized a special session titled “From Breach to Verdict — Egypt’s Comprehensive Approach for International Cyber Justice and Regional Capacity”, showcasing its initiatives in digital forensics, cyber investigations, and regional capacity building.
The Egyptian delegation, including Ministry of Justice representatives, also participated in high-level side events focusing on cryptocurrency investigations, money laundering detection, and capacity building, alongside officials from Ghana, Russia, China, Vietnam, Cuba, and South Africa.
Building a Secure and Competitive Digital Economy
Throughout these engagements, Egypt emphasized its achievements in combating cybercrime, including the establishment of specialized courts, prosecution units, and national training programs.
