Tunisie Telecom marked a historic milestone this weekend with the official landing of the Medusa Submarine Cable System in Bizerte, strengthening Tunisia’s international connectivity and advancing the nation’s digital transformation agenda.
A Strategic Project for National and Regional Connectivity
Spanning 8,700 kilometers, the Medusa cable — led by AFR-IX Telecom and co-funded by the European Union — connects Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, linking countries such as Tunisia, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Greece, Cyprus, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, and Egypt.
The 1,000 km fiber pair connecting Bizerte to Marseille delivers a capacity of 22 Tbps, boosting Tunisie Telecom’s international bandwidth and reinforcing Tunisia’s position as a Mediterranean digital hub.
