Oujda Ranked as Morocco’s Fastest City for Internet Speed, Says Ookla Report

Oujda has been named Morocco’s fastest city for internet connectivity, according to the latest data from Ookla, the global leader in network performance measurement. The city recorded an average download speed of 65.74 Mbps and upload speed of 15.91 Mbps, securing the top spot in the national rankings.

Fes followed closely in second place with download and upload speeds of 65.14 Mbps and 15.03 Mbps, while Agadir ranked third with 65.08 Mbps and 17.15 Mbps. Marrakech came in fourth with 62.86 Mbps for downloads and 16.7 Mbps for uploads. Rabat and Casablanca took fifth and sixth place, showing a modest gap with speeds of 60.69 Mbps and 58.31 Mbps, respectively. Other strong performers include Meknes, Tangier, and Sale.

In mobile connectivity, the Speedtest Connectivity Report confirmed Maroc Telecom’s dominance, earning the title of Morocco’s fastest mobile operator. The company achieved an average download speed of 53.72 Mbps and upload speed of 13.28 Mbps, outperforming rivals Inwi and Orange.

Maroc Telecom also led in fixed broadband performance with 49.59 Mbps download and 48.97 Mbps upload speeds. The report praised both Maroc Telecom and Orange for delivering high-quality video streaming, with Maroc Telecom excelling in mobile video experiences and Orange leading in fixed-line streaming quality.

On a regional scale, Morocco emerged as a North African leader in internet speed, achieving an average upload speed of 31.86 Mbps and download speed of 35.57 Mbps during Q4 of the previous year — surpassing Egypt and highlighting the Kingdom’s growing digital infrastructure strength. These advancements reflect Morocco’s commitment to expanding fiber-optic and broadband networks nationwide, signaling a strong trajectory toward a fully connected digital economy.
